I have a great burden on my heart as I study Revelation 6, I am convinced that the"Day of the Lord" is about to begin. Approximately six billion people are about to be cast into the awful destruction of the tribulation period. We desperately need to sound the warning to as many as possible.
Let me sumarize the first five seals. In the first seal the rider on the white horse, antichrist, comes on the scene. Through great deception he deceives Israel and the nations. He leads Israel and the nations to sign a peace treaty, it is a false treaty, it is a 7 year treaty, and it is signed on day one of the tribulation period.
The breaking of the next five seals happens in rapid succession over a short period of time (1 Thess. 5:3). There are other reasons for believing that, but space and time do not permit that exposition here, see Ezekiel 39:9. I believe that all of the six seals will unfold in the first year of the tribulation period.
The second seal, the red horse, is war, a war that follows very quickly on the signing of the peace treaty (again 1 Thess. 5:3).
The third seal, the black horse, is famine that follows on the heels of the war. I Believe that this war is the war of Ezekiel 38 & 39.
The fourth seal, the rider on the pale horse, speaks of death that results from the war and the famine. ( Ezekiel 38:21,22 - 39:2-6.)
The fifth seal is a little more difficult to understand, it is the pouring out of blood upon those who martyre the ones being saved, Rev. 16:6 - Rev. 6:9. In verse 10, they cry "How long---dost thou not avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?" The answer comes in verse 11, "rest yet for a little season until---their brethern, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled". This is an indication that it is early in the tribulation period. It is my conviction that the events of the first six seals happen very rapidly in the first year of the tribulation period. Next week we will pursue this further.
In 1 Thess. 5:2, Paul says, "For yourselves know perfectly that the Day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night". The day of the Lord is the awful time when the judgment of God and the vengence of Satan is poured out upon the world.
In 1 Thess. 4, Paul talks about the rapture of the church. In 1 Thess. 5, Paul changes the subject to the Day of the Lord. The Day of the Lord follows the rapture of the church. God set Israel aside nearly 2000 years ago! He then began to establish His church. For 2000 years He has been building the church while Israel was set aside. Now God has begun to work with Israel again! He is about to take the church out of the world while He finishes His work with Israel.
We stand on the threshold of the long delayed Day of the Lord. Paul said the Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night. My Friends, listen to me ! Jesus is coming! Jesus is coming! Jesus is coming! The Day of the Lord is about to break upon this unsuspecting world.
