What Lies Ahead for Israel and the World?

Source: Art Sadlier, Thursday December 1st 2011

The peace process is now over.

The following news release last week by the Israeli Prime Minister indicates that the peace process in now dead.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Thursday reiterated that the vast changes sweeping the region obligate Israel to be “very careful, responsible and vigilant” and not do anything to jeopardize its security.

During a joint press conference with visiting Romanian Prime Minister Emil Bloc, Netanyahu echoed a theme he discussed a day earlier in the Knesset. With uncertainty rampant in the region, the prime minister said that this was no time for Israel to rush headlong into a deal with the Palestinians that would entail the withdrawal from territory.

Another indication that the peace process is dead is the apparent coming unification of Hamas and the Palestinians. Hamas have repeatedly made it clear that they will never negotiate peace with Israel. Though the unification of Hamas and the PA is fraught with difficulties, it seems ultimately inevitable.

That leaves war on the horizon, which is what the real agenda of Israel’s enemies has always been. The issues between Israel and her Arab enemies can unfortunately only be settled on the battle field.

The prospects in that coming war do not seem to be good for Israel, at least from a strictly human perspective.

It has now been made clear that the Lebanese Armed Forces will fight against Israel alongside Hezbollah in the next war.

Iranian Defence Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said that Iran has up to 150,000 missiles pointed at Israel, according to the semi-official Iranian FARS news agency. Hezbollah has an estimated 75,000 missiles ready to be fired on Israel, while the number of missiles held by Hamas is also growing.

Another dimension is the aspect of biological warfare. A report last week stated that the defence and health ministry’s will stage an exercise dubbed 'Orange Flame 6" in the north next week and simulate an "unconventional terrorist" attack. The two-day drill next Wednesday and Thursday (November 30 - December 1) will simulate a biological outbreak of a contagious disease, attacking and infecting the cities of the north, primarily Afula, Tiberius, and the Nazareth area in the Galilee.

Add to those scenarios the prospect of Iran obtaining nuclear weapons and the pressure on Israel to pre-empt that possibility. A report states that, “According to the briefing given to a closed meeting of Jewish leaders in New York Sunday, Nov. 13, the window of opportunity for stopping Iran attaining a nuclear weapon is closing fast, debkafile's sources report. It will shut down altogether after late March 2012. The intelligence reaching US President Barak Obama is that by April, Iran will already have five nuclear bombs or warheads and military action then would generate a dangerous level of radioactive contamination across the Gulf region, the main source of the world's energy.”

Frank Gaffney, Ronald Reagan’s assistant defence secretary recently stated, “War is on its way in the Middle East as Muslim countries are determined to force a showdown over the future of Israel.

“I’m afraid there’s a war coming, a very serious, perhaps cataclysmic regional war,” he said. “It will be presumably over, at least in part, the future existence of the state of Israel. It may involve all of its neighbours, as they have in the past, attacking Israel to try, as they say, to drive the Jews into the sea. “It may involve the use of nuclear weapons,” Gaffney predicted.

We believe that this coming war is the war described in Psalm 83, Isaiah 17 and Ezekiel 35-36 (See August Edition).

The combatants in this war are clearly named in Psalm 83:6-8, “The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes; Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot.”

A careful reading of these verses indicates an alliance of nations that will come against Israel. Those nations or groups are the Palestinians (Edom), Jordan, Hamas, Hezbollah and the Lebanese army and Syria. These groups have now formed an alliance to destroy Israel.

However there is one exception, Jordan. Jordan is not now a member of this alliance against Israel. It is interesting that Jordan is now under the threat of being subdued by radical Islam. The Muslim Brotherhood is evidently working within Jordan to overthrow king Abdullah. We can look for Jordan to become a part of this group.

It would seem from scripture that this war will trigger the unfolding of events leading up to the tribulation period. The trumpet is soon to sound calling the Bride of Christ to the Father’s house. We do not know the timing, but we know that the Day of the Lord is near at hand.

Remember that there are no signs for the rapture, it is a sign less event, and it can happen at any time. We do know that there are many signs now being fulfilled that indicate the second coming of Christ and that the rapture precedes the second coming by at least seven years
