In Matthew 24 Jesus described the world of the days just prior to His coming. Today the headlines read like that day.
We read about riots in the UK. In response to the rioting, governments are contemplating shutting down the social media, such as Facebook and BlackBerry. Liberty is slipping away and totalitarinism is moving in. Unrest and violence is raging in the Middle East and thousands in Syria are being slaughtered by the army. Even in Israel unrest is growing.
We read about a horrendous famine in Africa which is now breeding an epidemic of cholera with death sweeping away thousands and potentially millions.
Reports have come in that the US is concerned that al Qaida is seeking to produce large quantities of ricin to kill masses of people in the US.
The economies of the world are reeling and threatening a worldwide collapse. Rumours indicate that the Federal Reserve is planning to resume the printing of money to buy up the US debt. One analyst stated that this is the only option left for the fed. Economists and history have long warned such a move is the precursor of monetary collapse. The economies of France and Italy are reeling dangerously as Europe wrestles with impending economic disaster. Economic disaster would seem to be the forerunner of a worldwide totalitarian government.
Wars and rumours of war are multiplying while the arms race continues to grow.
Another sign Jesus gave was expanding persecution of believers. We have seen in recent days an exponential growth in persecution and martyrdom of Christians all around the globe.
We can add to the above signs the religious deception that is flooding over the world and the church. We are seeing an incredible apostasy sweeping through the evangelical church, a departing from the faith and the proclamation of another gospel. Contemplative meditation seems to be the unifying element in bringing all religions together. This deception is aided by TV and so called TV evangelists. Saddest of all is the fact that many who name the name of Christ are unaware of what is happening.
Worldwide religious deception will result in a world church that is deceived.
“And as he sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the (age) world?” (Matthew 24:3).
