The Apostate Church of the Last Days

Source: Art Sadlier, Sunday September 12th 2010

The scriptures reveal that there will be growing apostasy in the church will take place over the long church age. We are also told that this apostasy will culminate in a world-wide counterfeit church that will totally turn away from the truth in the last days. In Revelation 17, this apostate church is called the Mother of Harlots.

We are also told that Antichrist will enter into union with the harlot church. He will use the harlot to ride to power in the first half of the tribulation period. At the midpoint of the tribulation period he will destroy the harlot and cause the world to worship him.

I believe that Antichrist is conducting a program of preparation to bring the present apostate groups  and  churches to the point that he can use it for his purposes. This begins with the present apostasy that is in full swing right now.

In an August 30, 2010, article entitled, "Religions should unite against radicalism," Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf, who is leading the project to build a mosque and Muslim interfaith centre near the site of the September 11, 2001, attacks, provides a clue: "We are all in this together ... there is a common threat: Radicalism, which exists in all religions." He further states, "The real battlefront is not between Muslims and non-Muslims - the real battlefront is between moderates and extremists."

In a Daily Times article entitled, "Interfaith harmony for world peace," the author Mohammed Jamil concludes that the "fundamental reason for the turmoil and tension in the world is the absence of a just economic order." In his reasoning, interfaith harmony is a means to solve this problem. In 2008, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia called for interfaith dialogue between Islam, Christianity, and Judaism and said at that time, "If God wills it, we will then meet with our brothers from other religions, including those of the Torah and the Gospel to come up with ways to safeguard humanity." The king, who is the guardian of the holy sites of Mecca and Medina, reasoned that the major faiths "shared a desire to combat the disintegration of the family and the rise of atheism in the world."

Today the word that is bringing all religions together is the word "tolerance."  The religions of the world will tolerate anything and everything except the notion that Christ is the only way to God. The absolutes of true Christianity are intolerable and cannot be accepted.

Today the coming together of religious groups and their unification in the cause of peace to the abandonment of truth, is leading these groups into the arms of the harlot church.
